Reporting to the Director, Innovation Policy, the Policy Analyst will implement the Mitacs Reporting Strategy, while supporting policy research and the preparation of other materials including briefings, presentations, proposals, submissions and other policy documents as needed. 


  • Manage the internal process for the preparation of reports to government funders, research partners, and other funding organizations, in collaboration with other Mitacs departments;
  • Write funder reports and planning documents, briefing notes, regular updates on specific topics and other documentation to support the Director as necessary;
  • Prepare documentation, reports and regular updates on specific topics for internal use;
  • Provide support to program development and corporate strategy;
  • Support development of increased policy awareness and capacity within Mitacs through initiation and participation in information sharing and other internal mechanisms; and
  • Represent the Policy Team on internal working groups where appropriate, including the Mitacs Contract Closing Team.



  • A Master’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Political Science, or related field;
  • Demonstrated experience in report and/or proposal writing;
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to document clearly and succinctly for internal and external audiences;
  • Strong organizational and project management experience;
  • Experience with leading complex projects, from initiation to completion;
  • Experience in working effectively with multiple projects, assignments and deadlines;
  • Exceptional ability to work independently, while also working with people at all levels of the organization and across teams;
  • Fluency in French – written and verbal – considered an asset.
